Week 3- 15/06/20
Hello year 4,
Week 3 already! Hopefully you are starting to extend your knowledge further on the Ancient Greeks, I hope you enjoyed learning about the Greek gods last week and did some fantastic character descriptions.
This week in writing you will be looking at the story of ‘The quest of Medusa’s Head’ I would like you to read the story and imagine you are a journalist that needs to write a newspaper report on the story. Your focus this week will be to know the features of a newspaper report, lay out a newspaper report correctly and be able to use quotes to engage the reader.
In maths we are looking at measurement, we will be continuing to follow the Oak Academy lessons, I hope you are enjoying these lessons, however if you prefer to work away from a computer I have also attached some worksheets you can use instead, although these are on place value. The important thing is that you are doing a little maths each day. Also remember to practice your timetables, by the end of year 4 the aim is that you know all your times tables up to 12 x 12, now if a perfect opportunity to practice.
In reading I thought it may be nice to do a novel study. I have managed to find an online copy of Stig of the Dump, so we can all look at this together. Use the Powerpoint to read chapter one online and then answer the provided questions each day. You can complete the questions online or print these out.
To extend your knowledge on the Ancient Greeks you will be looking at the political system and democracy. Also to continue with our science topic of the digestive system you will be learning about teeth.
Your spellings this week are adding the suffix –ation to verb root words to create nouns.
As always please send any work in that you have done, I love to see what you’ve been up to! I hope you all have a fantastic week and I will speak to you soon!
Miss Hunt xx
