Monday

Literacy- Complete the Mr Whoops spelling activity (attached). Reading focus- Complete the mental health week reading comprehension. The answers are at the end of the file so you can mark your own when you have finished.

Art-  Using household objects, have a go at creating a self-portrait (see the example attached)

Tuesday

Mega Maths: Prodigy Maths

Maths- Time calculations- Watch the video and then complete the questions on the sheet (attached)https://corbettmaths.com/2013/10/24/calculations-involving-time/   You can then mark your work using the answer sheet attached

Word Wizards- Spelling frame – investigate spelling rule 43.  https://spellingframe.co.uk/

Literacy- SPAG challenge task – this one should really get your brain thinking. Write a paragraph about anything you like however, every time you use a homophone, you have to use the wrong one. E.g. Aisle bee sew upset if my friend isn’t aloud two visit. How many different sentences can you create?

French- Learn the names of different pets. Remember to view the PowerPoint in full screen mode and use the ‘play’ button in the top left to hear the phrases read out to you. Then have a go at completing the sheet.

Wednesday

Word Wizards: How many words can you find in the word square? (see the attachment below) Can you find the 9 letter word? Challenge: Can you write the definitions of all the words you’ve found?

Literacy: Open the image for this week, titled ‘solitary existence’. Read the story starter then scroll down to the second page and think carefully about each of the questions asked. Have a go at answering them in as much detail as you can. The more detail you include, the easier you will find your writing task tomorrow.

Maths: Login to https://go.educationcity.com/  Sign in using the passwords you use for Readtheory (these are stuck in the front of your orange book). At the home screen, click on ‘classwork’ and choose three of the interactive maths games that have been set for you.

Word Wizards- Epic books (login using your username and password)

Literacy- Have another look at the image and story starter from yesterday. Today, can you continue the story? Think carefully about what kind of character you would like Ben to be. Do we get an insight into his thoughts? Does he venture outside his new home? How does he feel? Do you want to try and create suspense?

You may prefer to only write a few paragraphs, so think carefully about how you can use language creatively.

The challenge explanation begins at 4mins 40 into the video. Watch the video then open the task attached on the website.

Word Wizards-Read for pleasure. Can you find a book that features an animal as one of the main characters?

Literacy: Edit and improve your creative story using dice. Roll the dice and follow the commands below:

1- Edit a sentence opener by using a fronted adverbial.

2- Add a piece of ‘thought’. How will you punctuate this? 

3- Find three verbs you have used. Add an adverb before or after these to add detail for your reader. 

4- Read your work aloud, pausing at every piece of punctuation. Have you missed any punctuation?

5- Add in a piece of figurative language (metaphor, simile or personification)

6-  Experiment with parenthesis.

PSHE: Reflect on all the things that you’ve got to be grateful for at the moment – both the big things and the little things. Create a poster containing all the things you can think of. You might then want to share this with the people living in your house. Is there anything they might want to add.

When you have finished, stick it somewhere you can see it, and use it to make you smile each day. You could even add some positive quotes and motivational messages too.
