Sainsbury’s School Games Silver Award 2015

We are delighted to have been awarded the Sainsbury’s School Games Silver award for our sporting achievements in 2014/15. In order to receive the award we demonstrated that we offer a school sporting calendar which involves taking part in a number of competitions both in school and at Oakwood High School. We are extremely proud of the results we achieved in these competitions last year:

* Cross country festival- 8 children in the final

* Boys football festival- 4th place

* Girls football festival- 2nd place

* Netball festival- 2nd place

* Basketball festival- 3rd place

* Oakwood dance festival- 22 children took part

* Rounders festival: 3rd place

* Cricket festival: 2nd place

* Inter-academy hoopla rounders: 2nd place

* Inter-academy kwik cricket: 1st place

* Inter-academy rounders: Draw

Blue team were our fantastic KS2 Sports day winners and Red team were our brilliant KS1 Sports day winners.

We are also extremely pleased with the introduction of three brand new KS1 festivals which will begin this year and we look forward to taking our fantastic KS1 children to Oakwood to represent our school. We will also be holding an inter-academy tri golf tournament later this year in addition to our annual rounders, kwik cricket and hoopla rounders matches against Whiston Worrygoose.

We are also excited about our new links for 2015 -16 with Change4Life. Change4Life will be initially working with our KS2 children through a health and fitness campaign to be accessed at lunchtime. This will lead to an inter-school competition later in the year. To find out more about change4Life follow the pages below (4th page) or click on the link below:

Finally, we are also extremely excited by the election of our new Sports Leaders and Sport journalists who will be organising a number of exciting inter-school competitions throughout the year and then writing up a blog/post to commentate on everyone's efforts.
Well done Whiston!
