White Woods Primary Academy Trust

The Trust was established by three self-converting primary schools in September 2013.  Canklow Woods Primary, Whiston Worrygoose J & I and Whiston J & I School had previously been part of a soft federation.  In November 2014 Wickersley Northfield Primary School joined White Woods Primary Academy Trust.

The Academy is managed by the Acting CEO, Peter Haynes (CFO), on behalf of six Directors.

CEO’s Welcome

“As CEO of our Trust, may I offer you a warm welcome to White Woods Primary Academy Trust.
Our academies are committed to improve the life chances and choices of all children regardless of background or ability.  We aim to provide high standards of teaching and learning through:
*  Developing a culture of high expectations and high aspirations for all pupils
*  Providing a rich broad balanced curriculum which sustains engagement for all learners
*  Ensure that all learners have equality of opportunity regardless of race, creed or disability

School Improvement

School improvement and the development of teaching and learning is the prime focus of our Trust.  School improvement is co-ordinated by the CEO.
Good and outstanding leadership from within the Trust are utilised to impact upon academies requiring improvement.  NLE/LLE and SLE support is commissioned by the Trust.
The Trust initially prioritises academies that require improvement to ensure that all pupils attending our academies receive at least a good education.  To this end, resources and support are targeted proportionate to the needs of the individual academies.
In 2016, two academies within the Trust were inspected by Ofsted.  Both Ofsted reports commented that White Woods Primary Academy Trust had offered good support to the academies.
“Governors and the Academy Trust Board demonstrate the same high levels of commitment to the school and it’s local community.  They share your ambition that whatever the challenges pupils may face, each pupil should enjoy the very best opportunities to develop all the personal skills they need and to achieve well in readiness for the next steps into secondary education.  Governors and the Academy Trust board provide considerable support and increasing challenge to the school to hold leaders to account for the schools performance.”  (Canklow Woods Primary School Ofsted Report, July 2016)
