On Sunday the 12th of May it was the second addition of the Daily mile school's challenge and Rotherham 10K, taking place at Clifton Park and what a fabulous day it was! It was amazing to see nearly 200 children participate in the challenge, nearly 50 of which were from Whiston J and I!
We started the morning by doing a warm up with Rother FM, before heading to the start line to do the 1 mile lap of Clifton Park. It was lovely to see the smiles on all the children’s faces, as they all completed it with their individual goal, whether that was to position in the top 10, run with friends, complete the mile without walking or just have fun!
Once finished all the children were presented with a medal from the mayor and we were delighted to find out we had come 3rd out of all the schools that participated.
Once the fun run was over the Rotherham 10K began. Mr Roberts, Mrs Denwood and Miss Hunt took park, as well as lots of parents from School. It was great to see lots of the children on the course supporting and giving cheers of encouragement.
If you enjoyed the run or feel inspired then on the 7th of July the Brinsworrth 10K will be taking place, which also includes a fun run for the children. More details will be provided nearer the time or see Miss Hunt for more details.
Also each week Parkrun takes place on a Saturday morning at at 9am at Clifton Park and Rothervalley. This is a free 3 mile route that can be ran, jogged or walked. To find out more information see Miss Hunt or go to the Parkrun website.
