At Whiston we take physical activity and children's health very seriously, the Government advise that children should be active for a minimum of 1 hour per day, 30 minutes of this should be included in the school day (additional to PE).
There are numerous things Whiston are doing to keep fit and healthy! Recently we have introduces WHAM time (Whiston Active Movers). This is where children participate in a structured play time in the morning and have lots of fun playing different sports games with a teacher or teaching assistant and the rest of their class.
We also do the daily mile every afternoon, when the children are given 10-15minutes to run around the perimeter of the playground and field with the aim to run a mile.
As well as being active outside we are also doing active learning in the classroom using the Super Movers website to get children active when learning.
To support us with this, please send your child in sensible shoes or trainers to make it easier for them to participate.
